About Study Course
Objective
To provide traynees with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquisition and opportunities for the development in a specific health care field - psychiatry. To prepare traynees for certification exam in Physical and rehabilitation medicine specialty according to Latvian Republic normative documents.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Theoretical knowledge of psychiatric patient diagnostic and acute treatment principles Traynee will be able to name, define, classify and characterize the most common psychiatric diseases, as a result, patients can gain permanent and disabling health problems.
Skills
1.Traynee will participate in the evaluation and assessment of psychiatric patients Will be able to analyze the results of the evaluation Will be able to identify risk factors for complications Will be able to draw up a plan for the prevention of complications
Competences
1.Traynee will be able to develop a longterm rehabilitation and social integration plan starting from the acute phase of treatment Will be able to develop prevention plans

Traynees daily work with psychiatry patients in hospitals under the guidance of a teaching specialist doctor (trainer)
Theoretical knowledge and clinical skills development according to the course content
Traynees carry out in-depth research on the subject of such psychiatric disease etiology, prevalence, diagnostic and acute treatment, which led patients to gain chronic, functioning restrictive health disorders.
