About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in psychosomatic medicine according to the requirements of sport medicine physicians’ specialty.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of mutual interconnection of sports medicine as a multidisciplinary field of medicine and psychosomatic medicine. Theoretical and practical knowledge of the assessment possibilities of patients’ psycho-emotional condition, manifestations and causes of somatoform vegetative dystonia, psychotherapy methods and areas of sport psychology in individual and team sports.

Skills

1.Ability to reasonably select the most suitable psychosomatic examination methods and apply them in sport medicine physicians’ practice.

1.Competence in selecting different psychosomatic methods.

To improve theoretical knowledge and practical skills in application of psychosomatics and psychotherapy methods in patients and professional athletes under the supervision of qualified specialists. Theoretical knowledge is acquired in 2 seminars and individual literature studies. During practical classes students acquire psychosomatic and psychotherapy methods under the supervision of a physician eligible to provide such training. A medical resident acquires patient assessment methods and manipulations, as well as different psychosomatic and psychotherapy methods.

At the end of the study course the head of the residency programm evaluates the acquired theoretical knowledge in written and oral form. The written test shall be assessed according to the 10-point grading system.
