About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in order to learn the mechanisms of specific most common pain syndromes, evaluation, investigation thereof and provision of multi-modal therapy and care.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student demonstrates the acquisition and development of in-depth understanding of the mechanisms of acute post-surgical and post-manipulation pain, post-traumatic pain, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, including back aches, oncological pain, various types of visceral, vascular, neuropathic and dysfunctional pain syndromes, evaluation, examination thereof and provision of multi-modal therapy and care that conform to the requirements of sub-speciality. The student defines the clinical significance and manifestations of these most common functional disorders caused by pain. The student interprets the results of clinical and instrumental examinations.

Skills

1.The student uses the skills of evaluating and diagnosing acute post-surgical and post-manipulation pain, post-traumatic pain, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, including back pain, oncological pain, various types of visceral, vascular, neuropathic and functional disorders caused by these in order to perform the professional functions of a qualified specialist in pain syndrome care and performs the manipulations provided for by the programme.

Competences

1.The student formulates and critically analyses acute post-surgical and post-manipulation pain, post-traumatic pain, headaches, musculoskeletal pain, including back pain, oncological pain, various types of visceral, vascular, neuropathic and dysfunctional pain syndromes, evaluates research trials in the area of fundamental and practical science on pain medicine, performs the required additional analysis, if the substantiation of a decision is required, demonstrates understanding and ethical responsibility on the results of professional activity of an algologist.
