Objective
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.• To formulate and sequentially arrange the normal anatomy of the abdomen, its common variants including viscera, abdominal organs, omentum, mesentery and peritoneum on CT, US, MRI and conventional radiology. • To name, explain, classify and radiologically evaluate the types of abdominal pathologies, their radiological signs, radiological differential diagnostic possibilities. • To name, explain and radiologically evaluate the indications and principles for the use of diffusion-weighted imaging in abdominal MRI.
Skills
1.• To interpret, explain and evaluate abdominal radiographs and their descriptions. • To demonstrate, explain and use radiography of the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, and the description thereof. • To interpret, describe and evaluate transabdominal US findings and examination descriptions. • To demonstrate, explain and use abdominal CT protocols and descriptions, including adaptation to specific situations (use of intravenous or intraluminal contrast, arterial phase or delayed examination, CT enterography) with accurate knowledge on the potential dose of radiation to the patient and medical personnel. • To interpret, demonstrate and use abdominal MRI protocols and descriptions under the guidance and supervision of the lecturer, including adaptation to specific situations (use of intravenous or intraluminal contrast, MR cholangiopancreatography, liver fat/iron quantification). • To distinguish between, demonstrate and use data post-processing protocol under the guidance and supervision of the lecturer (reformed images, maximum intensity projection (MIP), minimum intensity projection (MinIP), vascular analysis and parametric images in functional examinations, e.g. perfusion images). • To describe and evaluate oncological abdominal examinations according to international standards (RECIST, WHO) in specific situations

1.• To evaluate, substantiate and justify abdominal radiographs and their descriptions. • To interpret, substantiate and evaluate transabdominal US examinations and their descriptions. • To substantiate, compare and justify the choice and description of abdominal CT protocols, including adaptation to specific situations (use of intravenous or intraluminal contrast, CT enterography). • To substantiate, compare and justify the choice of abdominal MRI protocols and descriptions under the guidance and supervision of the lecturer, including adaptation to specific situations (use of intravenous or intraluminal contrast, MR cholangiopancreatography, liver fat/iron quantification).

• To acquire and defend the acquired theoretical basic knowledge in gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology.
• To discover and develop methodology, data processing, analysis, interpretation, formation of diagnostic opinions in gastrointestinal and abdominal radiological examinations.
• To master electronic transmission of data in gastrointestinal and abdominal radiological examinations and basic principles of radiological work in e-environment.
• To develop and improve team work and interdisciplinary communication skills.
• To improve and develop basic skills for preparation of case reports for a demonstration, theoretical analysis and presentation at councils, clinical conferences, scientific forums and for publication.
• To develop and apply in clinical interpretation basic skills for preparation, designing and presentation of an individual clinically-oriented research.

A certified teaching physician assesses the resident’s knowledge and skills on a 10-point scale at the end of each rotation cycle.
Theoretical knowledge of normal and pathological radiological anatomy and practical skills in interpretation of examinations according to the study course description of the relevant radiology specialty are assessed.
