Qualitative Research Methods I

1. Individual task. To develop a presentation, create a personal "inventory" and critical reflection to introduce your experience in qualitative research and future perspectives on the use and further learning of this strategy to group members and the lecturer. Recommended sections:

• • Title slide (name, surname, programme, topic of doctoral thesis (may also be approximate))
  • My KVAL research experience:

Theoretical: knowledge and skills acquired during the study process (bachelor, master) or outside it (e.g. courses, seminars, etc.) (if any)

Practical: practical experience of conducting KVAL research (in various contexts) (if any)

• Specific or less specific intentions to integrate KVAL research into your doctoral thesis (if any)
• If there are intentions related to the integration of KVAL research into your doctoral thesis, what specific questions/topics/problems would be desirable to address in this course, which would help to realise the doctoral thesis research?
• Also, if there is no intention to integrate KVAL research into your doctoral thesis, what interesting questions/topics/problems would be worth addressing in this KVAL research course, and why would it be useful?

1. Assessment criteria: Pass/Fail

Option 1

For students who will not use qualitative research in their doctoral thesis

Choose one qualitative research issue of interest (after consulting with the lecturer by e-mail) and look at it (by creating a PPT presentation) from the point of view of three different authors. The presentation lasts 10-12 minutes. 

Assessment criteria:

1. content and diversity of authors in accordance with the requirements
2. clear, logical structure of the presentation 
3. correct design of the presentation.   

Option 2 

For students who will use qualitative research in their doctoral thesis

1. Develop a list of literature (at least 10 scientific articles) that reflects qualitative research approaches, designs, data collection and analysis methods, participant selection, and scientific strengthening in accordance with your doctoral thesis topic/area.
   1. Articles must be published in the last 10 years;
   2. Articles must be included in the SCOPUS or WoS databases;
   3. Articles must be included in a table with the following columns: 1) number in sequence, 2) design of the article as a source of literature (APA 7 style), 3) a brief explanation of what research approach, design, methods, participant selection, or scientific strength issue this article addresses (in accordance with the needs of your doctoral thesis).
