About Study Course

Objective

Develop and improve oral and written Latvian language skills for communication in situations related to studies, sports, training and competition.

Preliminary Knowledge

Latvian language knowledge, skills and abilities acquired in st. in the course "Professional communication I, II" (Latvian for foreign students).

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student is able to: understand questions, explanations, information about studies, sports, training and competition process spoken at a normal pace.

Skills

1.The student is able to: provide oral and written information about his or her sport, trainings, competitions, using the acquired vocabulary.

Competences

1.The student is able to: read and understand informative texts; form questions and answer them, respecting the legality of the language.

Evaluation criteria: tests assess knowledge and skills in vocabulary and grammar. The test consists of different tasks, for each task the student receives a certain number of points. The following types of tasks are optionally included in the test: ed.: insertion of the correct word or expression in a sentence – 5 p. (for each correct insertion – 0.5 p.); d.: write a synonym or antonym – 5 p. (for each correct variant – 0.5 p); ed.: choosing the right word or statement option – 5 p. (for each correct choice – 1 p.); in: answer questions – 10 p. (for each complete, correct answer – 1 p.); language skills are assessed during contact sessions; independent work is evaluated by presentations; Presentation evaluation criteria: speech: 2 points - fluent speech; 1p. – reads and speaks; language: 2 p. – rich language; 1p. – language with imperfections; contents: 2 p. – extensive, interesting information; 1 p. – incomplete information; additional materials: 2 p. - various appropriate additional materials; 1 p. – video materials only. Total maximum number of points - 10 p. When assessing attitudes, active activity in practical classes is taken into account: 1 p. – the student shows interest and responsibility for his or her education; 0,5 p. – the student expresses interest in his or her education. The growth of knowledge, skills and competences during the course forms individual dynamics: 1 p. – systematically ascending; 0.5 p. – episodic.
