About Study Course

Objective

To ensure resident awareness of perioperative care of a neurosurgical patient, to provide theoretical knowledge and specific skills of anaesthesia method implementation during neurosurgery.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Residents are able to demonstrate specific knowledge and understanding of medical theory issues of anesthesia in neurosurgery, corresponding Anesthesiologist Resuscitation specialist specialty requirements, that provide basis for creative thinking in clinical practice and partially in research, as well as the ability to operate in an interdisciplinary contact.

Skills

1.Residents are able to successfully demonstrate the course description included manipulations in clinical environment.

Competences

1.Residents are able to successfully apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and manipulation skills maintaining anesthesia and perioperative care of neurosurgery patients.

Clinical skill assessment has to be done by the head of practical training, but theoretical knowledge assessment is organised by the head of the specialty program (according to RSU study regulations II). Theoretical knowledge can be assessed by: multiple choice tests, essay, clinical case-based test, clinical case presentation etc. Skills are assessed by monitoring performance in the workplace, as well as the observations used in demonstrations on the manikin and simulator, as well as objective structured clinical skill assessment. Residents knowledge and skills are assessed according to 10-point system.
