About Study Course

Objective

To develop students’ understanding of the precise use of medical terminology in English in the specialty chosen and promote its practical use; to train communicative skills for academic and professional purposes.

Preliminary Knowledge

English of secondary school level.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Upon successful completion of the study course the students will be able: • to recognize and interpret the use of medical terms; • to understand terminology and to analyze texts in medicine; • to express one’s point of view and justify it, using appropriate language structures and phrases.

Skills

1.Upon successful completion of this study course the students will be able to: • skillfully use medical terminology for professional needs; • read/translate (if necessary) texts in speciality; • give instructions in English to clients on correction of speech defects; • prepare a report and present it in English.

Competences

1.Upon successful completion of this course the students will be able: • to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in the study process and in the professional field.
