About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in oncology according to the requirements of the Regulation of Haematology specialty in order to prepare a physician for certification in the haematology specialty.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.A resident will have knowledge of incidence of oncological diseases in Latvia, as well as the most frequently diagnosed oncological diseases. Will have knowledge of principles for general early diagnostics, screening and therapy of oncological diseases. Will have knowledge of treatment methods of oncological diseases, including the latest medications.

Skills

1.Will be able to draw up an examination plan for a patient suspected of having an oncological disease within the framework set by the haematology specialty. Will be able to explain the necessary screening examinations to a patient in localisation cases of particular tumours.
