About Study Course

Objective

To train residents in late postoperative period management after cardiac surgery, with a particular focus on „redo” surgery, hybrid surgery and robotic surgery. To train residents to conduct classes for students and perform scientific and research studies.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knowledge of the course of late postoperative period, of keeping coronary grafts patent, of anticoagulation therapy after heart valve replacement.

Skills

1.• To participate in „redo” surgery, to luxate the heart out of adhesions for proceeding with the surgery; • To conduct student and resident classes in the speciality; • To do a scientific research thesis.

Competences

1.To provide primary and emergency aid to patients in compliance with requirements set by legal acts of Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia, Health ministry and regulations of Cardiac Surgeons Association.
