About Study Course

Objective

To acquire knowledge about the development of the gastrointestinal tract, its functions and physiology at different ages of the child.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Able to explain the functional characteristics of children’s digestive tract. To describe the immune functions of the gastrointestinal tract. To evaluate the manifestations of malabsorption syndrome in children with coeliac disease. To describe the physiology of the small and large intestine when evaluating patients with short bowel syndrome. To differentiate allergic diseases of the digestive tract in children of different ages.

Skills

1.To independently assess patients with malabsorption syndrome. To differentiate manifestations of malabsorption syndrome in children of different ages, independently implement an examination and treatment plan. To use the most suitable tests for the patient for the diagnosis of malabsorption.

Competences

1.To analyse and interpret diagnostic data to make a correct diagnosis. To substantiate the need for the selected tests and the chosen therapy plan.
