About Study Course

Objective

To develop international students' ability to use their preliminary Latvian skills in conversation in everyday situations.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge of English; having successfully finished the mandatory course in the Latvian language.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.On successful completion of the course students will be able to use the most common vocabulary for everyday situations and basic principles on which a conversation in Latvian is built.

Skills

1.On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to provide and specify information about themselves and their needs, make requests and ask questions as well as answer them in simple Latvian.

Competences

1.On successful completion of the course, students will be able to communicate in simple Latvian in the most common everyday situations.

Filling the study course evaluation survey. Memorizing listed vocabulary. Independent tasks on e-studies. Independent dialogue making in pairs.

1. There is an independent task after each class. The average grade of all independent tasks makes 30% of the final grade. 2. Students independently make dialogues in pairs (2 dialogues per pair) which they memorize and present during classes. The evaluation of the dialogues makes 40% of the final grade. 3. There is an examination in the end of the course consisting of a written part and an oral part. The written part makes 10% of the final grade. The oral part makes 20% of the final grade. 4. At the end of the course, every student must fill the course evaluation survey.
