Knowledge
1.Students analyse and apply theoretical and empirically justified principles of psychology to the professional activity of a psychologist. Describe the duties and rights of a psychologist. Students describe scientifically justified methods of psychological assessment (evaluation). Students name and describe scientifically justified methods of psychological counselling or psychological treatment. Describe the principles of cooperation with representatives of other professions and other psychologists in solving client/ patient problems in accordance with professional ethics and confidentiality.
Skills
1.Students perform professional activities under supervision in a qualitative manner: use scientifically justified methods of psychological assessment (evaluation), provide psychological counselling and provide psychological treatment to clients/ patients. Implement cooperation with representatives of other professions and other psychologists in solving client/ patient problems in accordance with professional ethics and confidentiality. Prepare a cooperation report and a psychologist's report. Perform self-reflection.

Task: - students divide into small groups of 3 participants (client, psychologist/trainee and observer). Members of each small group practise psychological assistance methods. - in small groups, each student (psychologist/trainee) carries out consultations with the client using psychological assistance techniques for up to 60 minutes. The observer watches closely and listens. - After consultation, the client and observer provide feedback. - After feedback, the student (psychologist/trainee) collects the conclusions in writing in the journal. By the day of the examination, the Master shall prepare: 1. A brief theoretical justification for the case (according to the previously drawn case description). 2. A plan for psychological assistance (according to the previously drawn case description). A. Master shall submit to the e-Studies Platform a short theoretical justification for the case (volume 3 pp.) and a plan for psychological research and assistance (volume 3 pp.). Online, in THE form of A ZOOM Platform, the State examination Commission shall be presented with the theoretical justification and plan prepared as appropriate. Presentation frame (PowerPoint presentation, time 10 min): - theoretical justification, which includes a brief description of the chosen research method and justification for its application (according to the specificity of the previously drawn case); - description of the chosen psychological support method and justification for its application (according to the case specificity previously drawn); - a plan for psychological assistance. B. Master in person to the Commission: - demonstrate work with the individual simulated client in one counselling episode (20 min as appropriate); - After the demonstration, the Master receives feedback from the simulation client regarding the led counselling episode; - After receiving feedback, the Master provides self-reflection on his presentation of the counselling episode and answers questions from the Commission; - in conclusion, the Master verbally provides a vision of the process of developing his or her knowledge, skills and competences during studies and a plan for his or her professional development. Assessment of knowledge and skills: Each member of the Commission shall assess the theoretical justification of the Master and the plan drawn up in accordance with the case, as well as consultations on the demonstration of the episode in a 10-ball system. The final score is determined by the total average ball. Students receive the assessment orally after the examination, as well as it is placed on the e-learning platform. Failing the state examination, the student is extrapolated. The student may renew for studies and take the State examination again – the next time the State examination is taken, in accordance with “Rīga Stradiņš University academic Regulations I”. |

A. The student prepares and presents a short theoretical background (of about 3 pages) and a joint work plan (of about 3 pages) for the case.
Presentation plan (PowerPoint presentation, time 10 min):
• theoretical justification, which includes a brief description of the chosen assessment methods and justification of their application (according to the specifics of the previously drawn case);
• description of the chosen method of psychological treatment and justification of its application (according to the specifics of the case drawn earlier);
• a joint plan for the application of psychological assessment and treatment methods.
B. The student demonstrates work with an individual client/ patient in one session (20 – 25 minutes, depending on the case):
• after the demonstration the student receives feedback from the simulation client/ patient about the conducted session;
• after receiving the feedback, the student provides self-reflection on the demonstration of his/ her session episode and answers the questions of the committee members;
• at the end the student presents a self-assessment report on the process of development of competencies and skills during studies and the professional development plan.
Assessment Criteria:
Competence to establish contact with the client/ patient;
Competence to set a goal according to the client's/ patient's needs, difficulties and resources;
Competence to choose the appropriate approach for the client/ patient, methods of psychological assessment and methods of psychological treatment;
Competence to provide psychological counselling and treatment;
Competence to provide feedback to the client in accordance with the set goals;
Competence to adhere to professional ethics and know well external and internal regulatory enactments;
Competence to critically analyse and evaluate own professional activity and development;
Competence to critically evaluate the opinion of a psychologist (documentation of a psychologist's professional activity).
Each member of the commission evaluates the student's competencies in a 10-point system. The final mark is given by determining the average mark.
