About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in andrology, in accordance with the requirements of the regulations of the specialty of urology, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of urology, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.• Describing the causes of infertility, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnostic principles • Name the principles of performing a spermogram, factors affecting its parameters • Describe the types of artificial insemination, indications for the use of these methods • Analyze the causes of testosterone deficiency, symptoms of hypogonadism, diagnostic principles • Explain the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, medicinal and surgical treatment principles of erectile dysfunction • To understand the etiopathogenesis of premature ejaculation, differential diagnosis, methods of treatment.

Skills

1.• Able to perform a physical examination of an infertile patient • interpret the results of spermogram and other laboratory tests • ultrasonoscopic examination of male reproductive organs • know the testicular biopsy technique, know how to perform it

Competences

1.• Is competent to carry out full-fledged examination and treatment of patients with erectile dysfunction • Able to determine the causes of infertility and recommend solutions to improve the fertility function • Able to examine and treat patients with premature ejaculation.
