About Study Course

Objective

Develop communicative skills in German to ensure successful communication during study process and work in the chosen speciality; promote the development of professional terminology and its practical application.

Preliminary Knowledge

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of successful completion of the study course, students will: • recognize professional terminology in various types of texts, • name the equivalents of the most commonly used terminology in the field of medicine in German, • describe various problems related to patient care using professional terminology in German.

Skills

1.As a result of successful completion of the study course, students will be able to: select and correctly use terminology for oral communication and writing in the field of medicine, use appropriate means of language expression to express their opinion in both oral and written communication.

Competences

1.As a result of successful completion of the study course, students will be able to practically use the terminology in different communicative situations with patients of different ages, depending on the health problems of the patients, as well as in the environment of hospitals/polyclinics in different situations.

Active participation in practical lessons; timely submitted, quality completed written homework, quality of oral answers (10%); • presentation, according to the course topic (10%); • test papers – testing the knowledge and practical use of the acquired terminology (10%); • a presentation at the end of the course, which tests knowledge of terminology and its practical use, understanding of general text and specific information, and use of written language and speaking skills (20%); An exam that tests students' reading and speaking skills, as well as knowledge of medical terms (50%).
