About Study Course

Objective

To provide the residents of the specialty in dermatology, venereology with training in diagnosing and treatment of skin manifestations of the allergic diseases, in ability to diagnose acute conditions in allergology and to establish the differential diagnosis of dermatovenereological and allergic diseases.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Demonstrates the acquisition and development of in-depth understanding for the following topics: 1. Investigative techniques in allergology, interpretation of the results (the medical case history, skin tests, laboratory methods, provocation tests). 2. Hypoallergenic and elimination diets: 2.1. creation of the individual hypoallergenic diet, patient instruction; 2.2. patient instruction about creation of hypoallergenic living conditions; 2.3. creation of the individual food diary and its analysis, patient instruction. 3. Hives, including physical urticaria. Acquired and congenital angioedema, clinical manifestations, differential diagnosis and treatment. 4. H1-antihistamins (preparation groups, clinical and pharmacological characteristics and application). 5. Food allergy. Atopic dermatitis from the point of view of an allergologist, diet for children with allergies (at the infant age and later). 6. Application of immunological preparations (vaccines, etc.) in children with allergies. 7. Determination of the quantity of house dust mites in living rooms. Possible protection against the allergen exposure: mitigation and control methods of house dust mite (use of cover filters).

Skills

1.Skin tests with penicillin diagnostic antigens, general anaesthetics, and medical preparations with a full antigen profile in patients with recorded allergic reactions to these agents in their medical history or in patients having atopic allergic diseases. Detection of the quantity and type of pollen and fungal spores in the atmosphere: 1) collection of pollen and fungal spores using pollen traps; 2) evaluation of the quantity and type of pollen and fungal spores using microscope slides.

Competences

1.After obtaining the certificate to be competent in working as a dermatologist and venereologist, to apply the knowledge acquired during the study process, to recognize and differentiate the skin and sexually transmitted diseases from other pathologies.
