About Study Course

Objective

To provide trainees with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquisition and opportunities for the development. To prepare trainees for certification exam in Physical and rehabilitation medicine specialty according to Latvian Republic normative documents.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Theoretical knowledge of neuromuscular and chronic pain rehabilitation principles Trainee will be able to name, define, classify and characterize the most common neurological diseases and chronic pain conditions, as a result, patients can gain permanent and disabling health problems.

Skills

1.Trainee will evaluate and assess neuromuscular and chronic pain rehabilitation patients Will be able to analyze the results of the evaluation Will be able to predict the results of outcomes Will be able to create an individual rehabilitation plan Will be able to identify risk factors for complications Will be able to draw up a plan for the prevention of complications Will be able to determine the patient's rehabilitation time, content and follow-up is needed Will be able to use the International Classification of Functioning

Competences

1.Trainee will be able to use the acquired knowledge and to plan future rehabilitation Will be able to develop a longterm rehabilitation plan starting from the acute phase of treatment and predicted late in treatment and rehabilitation outcomes Trainee will be able to manage and lead multidisciplinary rehabilitation team Will be able to develop prevention plans

Trainees daily work with neuromuscular and chronic pain rehabilitation patients in hospitals under the guidance of a teaching specialist doctor (trainer) Theoretical knowledge and clinical skills development according to the course content Trainees carry out in-depth research on the subject of such neuromuscular and chronic pain conditions etiology, prevalence, treatment and rehabilitation, which led patients to gain chronic, functioning restrictive health disorders.
