About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills according to the requirements of the geriatrician specialty and related to the specialty of neurology. To provide the opportunity to acquire the relevant knowledge, skills and competences in the neurology clinic required for geriatric practice.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.- Neurological diseases in the elderly. Epilepsy. Parkinson’s disease. - Alzheimer’s dementia and other dementias. - Peripheral neuropathy. - Acute cerebrovascular disorders. - Chronic cerebral ischaemia. - Delirium. - Back pain. Diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities.

Skills

1.- Identification of a possible acute neurological pathology (stroke, TIA, delirium). - Chooses the most appropriate examination method. - Providing emergency assistance. - Drawing up a treatment plan for patients with chronic neurological pathology.

Competences

1.- Drawing up an examination and treatment plan for patients with chronic neurological pathology. - Analyses the peculiarities of the clinical course.
