About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills that would correspond to the general knowledge of ​​urological complications and manipulations related to kidney transplantation, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of transplantology, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Theoretical knowledge of urological problems in transplantation, basic knowledge and indications of urological operations, urinary tract reconstructions. Acute urological complications in kidney transplantation. Examination and diagnostic methods used in urology, used in transplantation (applied instruments, catheters, dilators, etc.).

Skills

1.Evaluation of urological condition of patients when planning kidney transplantation and determination of necessary examination algorithm; determine indications for urological manipulations / operations before and after kidney transplantation.

Competences

1.Determination of necessary investigation algorithm when planning a kidney transplant; determination of necessary urological manipulations / operations before and after kidney transplantation; determination of the extent and plan of surgical intervention required.

The resident must acquire theoretical knowledge of urological problems, complications and manipulations (nephrectomy, cystoscopy, ureteral stenting and stent evacuation) related to kidney transplantation; diagnostic methods, instruments and equipment used in urology, practical skills of the most commonly used manipulations; the algorithm for treatment of graft urinary tract damage, obstruction, and reflux.
