About Study Course

Objective

To provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the use of photography in design and the role of design in the use of photography media in advertising, art, media. To create in students understanding and captivating knowledge of interactions between photography and design, related social, technological, economic and other aspects, when constructing messages in the internet, digital and printed media.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.To recognise, know, compare different types of design, the link between design and photography over time. To define, discuss, analyse design tasks in the process of creating, presenting photo projects, as well as on the meaning of photography in design management, advertising, graphic design, illustration. To know, justify the use of photography and design when constructing messages in the internet, digital and printed media, personal projects. To recognise, explain, compare design techniques in displaying photo projects. To know, compare, use, justify design methods using photography and creating projects and messages in printed and digital media.

Skills

1.To independently devise, plan and implement a design-photography project. To collect, select, understand and present information on interactions between design and photography, existing design methods in the use of photography in design. To create messages/independent projects using photography and design techniques in accordance with labour market requirements, needs and quality. To create new techniques in the use of design and photography by developing projects and messages in printed and digital media.

Competences

1.To evaluate design analogues using information for the creation of photo-design works. Responsibility for the quality of information collected and provided, value and compliance of sources of information, as well as against its eventual effects. Critical attitude to content and form of the methods used in design. Self-critical attitude to the value and compliance with the needs of users of the information included in design projects. Responsible, knowledge-based use of technologies and methods in the process of creation of projects. Ability to autonomously and responsibly produce design and photography projects (photo books, websites).

To approbate the knowledge provided during lectures and seminars by creating different short-term projects in student groups during workshops/seminars, and as a final work to independently implement own design-photo project in a professional way certifying own understanding of contemporary trends in the field of design.
