About Study Course
Objective
To develop an understanding of the provision of medical assistance (hereinafter referred to as EMC), provision of EMC in emergency medical situations and civil defence. To develop an understanding of possible disasters and their types, measures in case of disaster situations and medical assistance, to define the effect of extreme factors of the external environment on pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations.
Preliminary Knowledge
In anatomy and functional physiology, internal and surgical diseases, traumatology, pharmacology.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to describe how EMC is provided in emergency medical situations and toxicology. Will describe action in case of possible disasters.
Skills
1.As a result of completing the study course, the student will be able to assess the situation and apply the principles of EMC therapy in case of various acute situations at the scene, during transportation and in the hospital.
Competences
1.Students understand and evaluate the unity of EMC and disaster medicine systems in the health care system; participate in the implementation of EMC measures in emergency and disaster situations, provide psychosocial support to disaster victims.

Preparation for the topic of the respective class, using recommended literature and Internet resources, with subsequent evaluation thereof and practical application in theoretical and practical classes. Independent work on types of disasters and risk factors in case of natural and man-made disasters, provision of psychological and social assistance to disaster victims (direct and indirect victims).
