About Study Course
Objective
The purpose and specifics of the internship – to combine students' theoretical knowledge with latest trends in the provision of health sector and health care institutions.
Preliminary Knowledge
Professional practice refers to students who, after the 1st year of study, are competent to implement a certain development project in companies or organizations in the healthcare sector operating in Latvia or abroad. The task of the internship is to link the knowledge and skills acquired within the study program with the real situation in companies and organizations, as well as to improve communication and social skills.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Students will obtain knowledge on: • validation of theoretical knowledge in the field of healthcare • tasks related to the goal of the internship • the organization's activities in the field • and practical skills in performing internship tasks
Skills
1.The student acquires skills: • application of theoretical knowledge in the evaluation of the operation of a specific organization (system) • selection and application of appropriate analytical tools and methods of analysis • development and implementation of a specific project • implementing change management principles
Competences
1.Competence in the areas included in the placement assignment, including: • practical hand-on experience of preparing business research consultancy • processing and analyzing information within the framework of his/her competence and company’s needs (analysis, summaries, reports, memos, articles, leaflets, notes, etc.)

Student must submit:
1) Written report (15–25 pages, 12 pt font size, 1.5 line spacing), including:
• Detailed analysis of the company's profile, structure and operation;
• Report on his / her job responsibilities in the company;
• Internship diary;
• A report with an in-depth analysis in one of the functional areas of the company (for example, human resources, finance, marketing and sales), health policy analysis or the implementation of a specific project;
• Internship supervisor evaluation form or Reference letter from the company (signed);
• The report may include annexes (tables, graphs, samples, etc.).

Student's internship is assessed by:
• The company;
• RISEBA and RSU committee.
RISEBA and RSU committee assess presentation of the student’s placement report and all the documents submitted in accordance with above stated requirements, company’s references and student’s presentation skills.
The final assessment will be based on:
• Presentation (40%)
• Report (50%)
• Company’s assessment (10%)
Deadline for Report submission: according to the programme to be approved annually.
