About Study Course

Objective

Acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills at the level necessary for an acupuncture doctor about the medical technologies of acupuncture.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student has acquired theoretical knowledge of medical technologies of acupuncture, needle standards and selection principles, laser puncture, electropuncture, vacuum therapy and moxibustion therapy, indications and contraindications for use.

Skills

1.The student has acquired practical skills in needle insertion and manipulation techniques, use of laser puncture, electropuncture, vacuum therapy and moxibustion therapy methods, evaluation of results, recognition of complications. Insertion of different types of needles. Auxiliary techniques for needle insertion. Needle manipulation techniques, basic methods, tonification and sedation methodologies. Has learned the following: • application of moxibustion therapy • application of vacuum therapy • application of intradermal needles • application of three-edged needles (San Leng Zhen) • application of skin acupuncture hammer (Mei Hua Zhen) • application of transdermal electropuncture • application of laser puncture method.

Competences

1.Knows the medical technologies of acupuncture, is able to apply them differently in appropriate cases. Has mastered the execution of the specific acupuncture technology.

Manipulation techniques: tonification and sedation. Duration of leaving the needles in the body and removing them. Application, importance and indications of intradermal needles (Pi Fu Zhen), needle hammer (Mei Hua Zhen) and three-edged needle (San Leng Zhen).

Laser puncture method. Theoretical basis, mechanisms of action, indications and contraindications for use. Individualised dosing. Methodology of practical application of laser puncture in the treatment of various diseases. Work safety. Electropuncture method. Basic principles of using transdermal electropuncture in acupuncture. Selection of the optimal parameters of the applied electric current, indications and contraindications for use.
