About Study Course

Objective

To acquaint students with different directions of psychotherapy, to develop an understanding of the basic postulates and principles of operation of various directions of psychotherapy, to promote the choice of appropriate methods/techniques in counselling.

Preliminary Knowledge

Personality psychology, Social psychology, Psychological counselling, Clinical counselling.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students understand and compare the basic postulates and principles of different directions of psychotherapy, analyse contemporary research in psychotherapy.

Skills

1.Students discuss different directions of psychotherapy, evaluate their strengths and limitations, name their basic ideas and methods, use more separate techniques; are able to independently structure their learning.

Competences

1.Students are competent in the variety of psychotherapy directions and choose the techniques/methods appropriate for the client/patient group within their competence.

Independently strengthen the lecture material by systematically reading the indicated literature sources; to prepare for a test on the basic postulates of the directions of psychotherapy; to find and get acquainted with the research of the last years in psychotherapy, and to prepare a presentation in the group in order to introduce it to the course members.

A report should be written on the effectiveness of a field of psychotherapy today, using information from research over the last 10 years. A report should be prepared for the report and it should be presented in the last seminars of the semester

Written report on the effectiveness of psychotherapy today (30%) and its presentation (20%), active participation in seminars, discussing the directions of psychotherapy (20%), final test (30%).
