About Study Course

Objective

To consolidate the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired during the different study cycles of the Master's programme Clinical Pharmacy.

Preliminary Knowledge

Completion of the theoretical course of the Master’s programme Clinical Pharmacy. Pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, practical pharmacy and pharmaceutical legislation, social pharmacy and pharmaceutical care.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student will understand the inpatient circulation of medicines and documentation.

Skills

1.The student will be able to analyse and evaluate the pharmacotherapy of a pulmonology patient. The student will be able to design a treatment regimen and monitor its implementation together with a doctor.

Competences

1.The student will evaluate and analyse the compliance of treatment regimens with international recommendations and available financial resources.

During each week of the placement, the student has to analyse one clinical case, including patient information, the treatment regimen used, data from clinical trials on the case, suggestions for pharmacotherapy based on the principles of evidence-based medicine, cost analysis of treatment courses (both initial and in case of recommended adjustments). The choice of the patient to be analysed must be agreed with the placement supervisor. Each student performs a case analysis independently, group work is not allowed. During the placement, students get acquainted with the diagnoses, examination data and treatment regimens of patients selected by the placement supervisor (2-4 patients per week). Notes the number of patients seen and diagnoses in the placement logbook.

The reports in the placement logbook for the cycle are signed by the student and the placement supervisor. The placement supervisor records in the logbook the student’s placement assessment on a 10-point scale.
