Knowledge
1.Student will acquire symptoms of pregnancy and laboratory diagnostic methods of pregnancy; ability to determine gestational age and estimated date of delivery, will formulate the importance to ascertain mother’s risk group; to term prenatal diagnostic methods and explain the necessity to use these methods. Students will present a pregnancy supervision plan according to Cabinet Regulations No. 611, list the regulatory enactments regulating the record keeping procedure of medical documentation and records in medical institutions.
Skills
1.Student will be able to assess complaints of pregnant women, obtain reproductive history, calculate body mass index and measure blood pressure, perform gynaecological investigation, collect cytological smear and bacterioscopical smear from vaginal flora, use indicator strip to test urine, determine foetal position using Leopold’s manoeuvres, prepare documentation in accordance with regulatory enactments regulating the record keeping procedure of medical documentation and records in medical institutions, explain the data of ultrasound and various biochemical markers, determine estimated date of delivery, use the terminology approved in pregnancy care, assess the nature of foetal movements and records of foetal heart tones.
Competences
1.By implementing the obtained knowledge in supervision of physiological pregnancies, student is able to recognise a physiological pregnancy, assess the diagnostic results, included in Cabinet Regulations No. 611, and document the collected data.

Assessment of Clinical Placement I is based on:
- Performed manipulation sheet
(Minimum requirements of education programmes require at least 100 performed prenatal examinations in order to be awarded the professional qualification of a midwife)
- Placement diary
- Assessment of the placement supervisor
- Situation exercise.
