About Study Course

Objective

The aim of the study course is to strengthen the theoretical knowledge and professional competence of the student in the field of police work by ensuring the development of an independent study, the compilation of the results thereof in the diploma work and public defence in the State examination Commission.

Preliminary Knowledge

All study courses of the study programme have been successfully completed and the pre-defence of the diploma paper has been successfully passed (credited).

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Student: - have an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical aspects of the selected research topic, the legal framework and their application practices; - understands the legal framework of police work and the competence of police in ensuring public order, public safety and protection of the rights of persons; - is familiar with the interconnection of legal sectors related to police work and their role in professional activities; - is familiar with the methodology of the research paper, the basic principles of scientific analysis and the requirements for the development of the academic paper.

Skills

1.Student: - independently carry out an analysis of the legal framework and practice in the subject of the diploma; - formulate conclusions and proposals in the context of the subject of the diploma; - develop a diploma paper in accordance with academic requirements and scope; - present the results of the study and defend their opinion in a reasoned manner.

Competences

1.Student: - independently plan and implement research in the field of police work; - critically evaluate the application of legal provisions and professional practice; - able to defend the results of the study in a reasoned manner.

Defence of diploma

Defence of the diploma is taking place at the National examination Commission. During the defence, the student shall present the research carried out in the diploma, outlining the topics of the research, the purpose and tasks of the research, the research questions, the results of the research, as well as the conclusions drawn in the work and the proposals developed.

During the defence, the State examination Commission shall evaluate the conformity of the diploma work with academic and professional requirements, including the conformity of the topic of work with the content of the study programme “Police work”, the interrelation between the purpose of the study, tasks and work structure, the choice of the sources of rights used and scientific literature, the conformity of the research methodology, as well as the analysis performed and the quality thereof. The Commission shall also assess the merits of the conclusions and proposals.

During the defence, the ability of the student to present the results of the study in a clear and logical manner, to substantiate the conclusions and proposals made at work in a reasoned manner, to demonstrate an understanding of the subject of the study and the related legal framework, as well as to respond professionally and justifiably to the questions of the members of the National examination Commission shall be assessed.
