About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in understanding and evaluation of the electromyographic/neurographic examination.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Demonstrates profound knowledge of electrophysiological mechanisms, the acquisition and interpretation of sensory and motor neurophysiology test results relevant to sub-specialty requirements. Defines electrophysiological and clinical meaning and manifestations of different diseases caused by functional disorders and comorbid conditions. Interpreting clinical and sensory and motor neurophysiology findings, is able to analyse them and draw conclusions.

Skills

1.Applies diagnostic skills of sensory and motor neurophysiology examinations for the assessment of diseases and functional disorders, performs them independently and/or under the supervision of a certified specialist, performs practical manipulations provided for in the programme. The skills to be acquired can be realized both in study course I and II, reaching the total number (the number indicated applies to both years combined).

Competences

1.Formulates and critically analyses sensory and motor neurophysiological examinations and obtained results, evaluates studies in the area of fundamental and applied neurophysiological science, conducts necessary additional analysis if a decision needs to be substantiated, demonstrates understanding and ethical responsibility for the result of neurophysiologist’s professional activity.

Assessment

Individual work

-
-
Neurophysiologist formulates and analyses aspects of clinical neurophysiology and problems in the field, is able to resolve professional issues in neurophysiology using the acquired knowledge and skills; performs the necessary additional analysis, if necessary to justify a decision, is able to use the latest research and developments in the field in practical work, understanding and respecting professional ethics.

2.

Examination

-
-
Theoretical and practical knowledge is tested by a written test answering theoretical questions. The test is passed if the medical practitioner to be certified answers at least 75% of the questions correctly. Defended research paper. The number of practical manipulations performed in full during the course.
