About Study Course

Objective

To provide Master students with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and competence in the scientific concept of stress, and to improve their understanding of and skills in stress management – management and prevention possibilities.

Preliminary Knowledge

Not required.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Master students are able to name the basic principles and concepts/terminology of stress, understand and are able to explain the common and different features of the concept of “stress, anxiety, burnout, post-traumatic stress, fatigue”, stress management and prevention methods, understand the aspects of stress in social work and in the environment of helping professions. Understand the importance of supervision in stress management in social work.

Skills

1.Master students are able to choose and apply appropriate stress prevention and management techniques in social work.

Competences

1.Master students are able to recognise various manifestations and symptoms of stress in their physical and emotional health, as well as the effects of stress in their professional activity. Master students are competent to recognise the triggers of their personal stress and are able to implement stress self-management in a targeted way.

Active participation in classes and practical classes – 20%, independent literature analysis for innovative research material – 40%; study presentation – 20%; preparation of an essay – 20%.

Examination – a written analysis of one internationally cited study, publication on one of the topics learned during the study course and its presentation; test – essay “Self-management of stress and/or burnout”. Criteria for the study analysis work – topicality – 50%, clear presentation of the study design – 30%, originality of the conclusions section – 20%. Essay volume – not less than 3 pages.
