About Study Course
Objective
To promote the development of the competence of students in the application of the qualitative research methodology in solving problems in sports and health education.
Preliminary Knowledge
Understanding the organisation of the teaching and education process, the construction and functioning of the human body, the impact of physical activity on health, movement analysis and basic principles of sports pedagogy, as well as understanding the promotion of healthy lifestyles and planning of physical activity for different target groups.
Professional skills acquired in the work of a teacher, legal aspects of the pedagogical process and professional ethics, skills to plan, organise and manage physical activity classes for different age groups, organise adventure activities, integrating safety principles, implement and evaluate the learning process in educational institutions, collaborating with learners, colleagues and other involved parties, communicating professionally in at least one foreign language.
Developed skills to use information and communication technologies in education, carry out quantitative research in the field of sports and health education, analyse and interpret data.

1.Describes the latest findings and research trends in pedagogy, sports and health education, analysing their role in improving the education process.

2.Explain the principles of the qualitative research approach in education, sports and health education, describe the methods and procedures for planning, data acquisition, analysis and interpretation of results of the study.

1.Select the design of the qualitative study appropriate to the research problem and formulate the scientific categories of the research according to the purpose and questions of the research.

2.Justify the selection of the qualitative study sampling method and data collection methods, argue their conformity with the purpose and design of the study.

3.Plan and perform data collection in a qualitative study in the field of education using data acquisition methods appropriate to the selected research design.

“Assessment of the problem of qualitative research in selected topic in pedagogy, sports and health education” Job description: The student independently chooses a topical topic in pedagogy, sports or health education and, based on 3-5 recent scientific qualitative studies, analyses the nature of the chosen problem, key findings and development trends. The work assesses the role of research in improving the education process, identifies current problems, research challenges and possible solutions based on analysis of scientific literature. Fulfilment conditions:

Rating: The work credited Shall meet the requirements set out in the tasks, include a scientifically sound analysis of the chosen problem, use of the latest scientific sources, reasoned conclusions and compliance with the requirements of academic integrity. |

“Development of a qualitative study plan”. A reasoned discussion on the choice of sampling methods for the selected qualitative study and the choice of content of data collection methods based on the developed qualitative study plan. Job description: The student shall develop a qualitative research plan in accordance with the chosen research problem, justifying the choice of qualitative research design, formulating the scientific categories of the research (problem, purpose, research issues), as well as selecting appropriate sampling and data collection methods. At the end of the work, the student discusses in a reasoned manner the appropriateness of selected sampling methods and data collection methods based on the developed research plan and scientific literature. Conditions for the implementation of the qualitative study plan:

Presentation and a reasoned discussion on the subject using open encoding. To present and discuss in a reasoned way in a group on the choice of methods of the selected qualitative study and data collection based on the developed qualitative study using open (inductive) encoding. Job description: The student prepares and presents the process for developing the qualitative study. During the presentation and the reasoned discussion, the student demonstrates the ability to reasonably use open (inductive) coding in the analysis of qualitative data, to interpret the results obtained and to defend the selected methodological solutions by identifying the relevant data units, codes and initial thematic categories. Job description: The student prepares and presents the process for developing the qualitative study. During the presentation and the reasoned discussion, the student demonstrates the ability to reasonably use axial encoding in the analysis of qualitative data, to interpret the results obtained and to defend the selected methodological solutions by identifying the relevant data units, codes and initial thematic categories. Written examination of the study course Description of the Paper: The written examination of the study course is an individual knowledge and skills test work, the purpose of which is to assess the student’s understanding of the subjects acquired in the study course, ability to apply theoretical knowledge to analysis of practical situations.
