About Study Course

Objective

Provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills and the improvement of children's allergology. During the course the student will learn theoretical and practical knowledge about pediatric allergology and different patologies. Know how to apply it in daily practice in order to successfully address the differential diagnosis and in accordance with proper methods of investigation used and appropriate treatment, prevention, recommendations for a way of life, education to enable patients and their parents.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The student will be able to demonstrate the acquired knowledge and: • to explain the basic concepts of paediatric Allergology; • describe the mechanisms of allergic reactions; • will be able to appreciate main allergic diseases of children (asthma, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis); • to name and characterise differential diagnosis, treatment.

Skills

1.The student is able to: • collect allergy history data; • use appropriate diagnostic method; • perform allergy tests; • choose the most suitable/ appropriate examinations; • select specific patient investigation tools; • has mastered and can perform basic tests of allergology.

Competences

1.The student has mastered the course and is able to: • formulate the main diagnoses of allergic diseases; • differentiate diseases; • interpret the data obtained from skin tests; • analyse skin test results; • develop an investigation plan.

Prepare monthly one clinical case and one presentation of investigation of allergic diseases in children. The students acquire the skills to communicate with children, their parents, guardians, to collect the necessary information – history, to acquire the skills to investigate allergic patients of different ages, to choose and take correctly allergy diagnostic and treatment procedures, to draw up a prevention plan.
