About Study Course

Objective

To acquaint students with the specific nature of the organisation of work of police departments and their competence in cooperation with the population. Tasks: to develop practical skills in communicating with parties involved in the situations, with national and local authorities and various groups of population. Special attention should be paid to prevent hate crimes and violent crimes.

Preliminary Knowledge

Basic knowledge about police work.

1.Knowledge of the community-focused police work methods in Latvia and foreign countries.

Skills

1.Ability to apply these methods in day-to-day police work, ability to use the obtained data for planning of work and prevention of crime.

1.Ability to fulfil the specified duties in accordance with the stated requirements for working with the population.

A student who has attended less than half of the lectures and has not passed the practical work of the examination may not be allowed to take a test.
