About Study Course

Objective

Apply theoretical and practical knowledge to research work in a practical study, acquire the ability to process data obtained during research and analyse results. Tasks: 1. To acquire the requirements for the drawing up of the study paper of the Latvian Academy of Sports Education; 2. Develop initial research activities and job presentation skills; 3. Strengthen skills in research using an experiment or pilot experiment as the chosen problem to be studied, in the compilation, analysis and evaluation of the results of the study. 4. Submit the necessary forms to THE LSPA Ethics Commission before the start of the practical study.

Preliminary Knowledge

Co-ordination of the topic of the course work with the head of work and submission of an application to the relevant department, opinion of THE LSPA Ethics Commission.

THE OPINION of THE LSPA Ethics Commission on the authorisation of the study will be received.

At the beginning of the relevant semester, in accordance with the study schedule, the Department of Physiotherapy shall present to students the rules for the development of the course work. After co-ordination with the head of the relevant department, lecturers shall publish possible topics of the course work on THE LSPA website. The student chooses a course manager to help articulate the subject. The student may propose his or her direction, which shall be co-ordinated with the head of the coursework. The principal shall not accept the subject of the course work if the same or similar has been chosen and co-ordinated by other students. The subjects of the coursework may be adjusted and changed during the research process and it is recommended that it be formulated in such a way that it can continue in the Bachelor’s thesis. The student shall submit the application for the subject of the formulated course paper to the methodologist of the Department of the head of work within the time periods specified by the Department of Physiotherapy in the 3rd year of study to the students of the full-time, face-to-face and off-site department in September within the time periods specified by the Department of Physiotherapy.

The work supervisor shall complete the study course evaluation form, the criteria of which are – introduction (description of the problem and idea raised in the topic, clarity of the wording of the objective, clarity of the research question or hypothesis), theoretical part (relevance of theoretical sources to the topic of the work, references to contemporary research, conformity of interpretation of theoretical sources to the problem of the work, linking of individual chapters to the overall concept of the work, linking theory to practical tasks of the work) practical part (justification of the sampling principle, characterisation of the research methods, logic of the description of the research procedure, accuracy, clarity and conclusion of the analysis of the results (scientific nature and relevance of the content to the objective, hypothesis and assigned tasks, conformity of the work with the requirements of style and presentation, presentation of the bibliography). Marking these in the table as corresponds, partially corresponds, does not correspond by posting the final score accordingly.
