About Study Course
Objective
The course provides advanced knowledge of the interdisciplinary aspects of oral surgery and endodontics, developing the resident's ability to evaluate tooth preservation strategies, plan treatment in collaboration with oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and make evidence-based clinical decisions in complex clinical situations. Residents acquire advanced knowledge of treatment planning for tooth autotransplantation, the surgical management of odontogenic and non-odontogenic lesions, and decision-making between endodontic treatment and implant therapy.

Knowledge
1.1. Acquire advanced knowledge of the principles guiding treatment selection between endodontic therapy, tooth extraction and implant replacement by evaluating clinical, radiographic and prognostic factors. 2. Acquire knowledge of the indications, contraindications, treatment principles and long-term outcomes of tooth autotransplantation and the surgical management of odontogenic and non-odontogenic lesions.
Skills
1.1. Assess tooth preservation potential and develop an evidence-based treatment plan by selecting endodontic treatment, tooth extraction or implant replacement according to the clinical situation. 2. Evaluate the indications for tooth autotransplantation and the surgical management of odontogenic and non-odontogenic lesions, and plan interdisciplinary treatment in collaboration with oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Competences
1.1. Integrate theoretical knowledge and clinical skills to independently make evidence-based decisions regarding tooth preservation or replacement by evaluating prognosis, treatment risks and patient-related factors. 2. Independently plan interdisciplinary treatment for patients requiring collaboration between endodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons to optimise treatment outcomes and long-term prognosis. 3. The resident is able to diagnose odontogenic and non-odontogenic jaw lesions, perform differential diagnosis, assess the indications for surgical management, and collaborate with oral and maxillofacial surgeons in treatment planning and long-term patient follow-up.

Endodontic Treatment or Implant Replacement: Treatment Planning and Clinical Decision-Making
Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of treatment planning principles when evaluating tooth preservation versus replacement with a dental implant. The seminar examines the long-term outcomes of primary endodontic treatment, nonsurgical retreatment, endodontic surgery and implant therapy, together with prognostic factors and evidence-based treatment selection criteria. Indications for immediate and delayed implant placement, strategies for preserving hard and soft tissues following tooth extraction, as well as the influence of clinical, radiographic, periodontal factors on treatment planning are discussed. The resident develops the ability to evaluate the advantages, limitations and long-term prognosis of different treatment strategies and to make evidence-based clinical decisions in collaboration with implantologists and other dental specialists. |

Tooth Autotransplantation: Indications, Surgical Technique and Long-term Outcomes
Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of the indications, contraindications, treatment planning principles and clinical stages of tooth autotransplantation. The seminar covers the selection criteria for the donor tooth, preparation of the recipient site, the significance of the stage of root development, preoperative treatment planning, the timing of endodontic treatment, and factors influencing treatment prognosis. The resident develops knowledge of the importance of preserving the periodontal ligament, potential complications, postoperative follow-up and long-term treatment outcomes, while evaluating the role of the endodontist in interdisciplinary treatment planning and patient selection. |

Odontogenic and Non-odontogenic Jaw Lesions: Diagnosis, Differential Diagnosis and Principles of Surgical Management
Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment planning of odontogenic and non-odontogenic jaw lesions. The seminar covers the clinical, radiographic and histopathological features of the most common cysts, tumours and tumour-like lesions, as well as the principles of differential diagnosis. The resident develops knowledge of the indications and principles of cystectomy and marsupialisation, the importance of histopathological examination, and the role of the endodontist in diagnosis, referral and interdisciplinary treatment planning. |
