About Study Course

Objective

To create an understanding about the physiology and pathology of the female sex system in different periods of a woman's life, the possibilities and importance of physiotherapy in a woman's health.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.On completion of the study course, the student acquires knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the female genital organs in different periods of a woman's life: physiological changes during pregnancy, complaints and correction options caused by them, physiological course of childbirth and the postpartum period, rehabilitation after the most frequent gynecological operations, the impact of lifestyle on a woman's reproductive health.

Skills

1.Knows how to explain and gives advice: • causes of discomfort caused by physiological pregnancy and possibilities to reduce them; • physical activity during pregnancy, its positive effects on the health of the mother and child, knows contraindications, • physiological course of childbirth and activity of the obstetrician in childbirth and possibilities to promote the process of childbirth; • the course of the physiological postpartum period and possible ways to correct various changes caused by pregnancy in the postpartum period; • dysfunction of the perineal base - complaints, symptoms, pathogenesis, principles of treatment, prevention, • principles of rehabilitation after gynecological operations; • the impact of lifestyle on a woman's reproductive health.

Competences

1.Will be able to advise for pregnant woman about back pain during pregnancy, on the most appropriate type and amount of physical activity during pregnancy; To advise the obstetrician on the importance of movements and postures to facilitate the birth process; Advise on the causes of genital dislocation and prevention options in the postpartum period.

Student have to prepare a short presentation (5-7 min) within the framework of the study course - on topics related to physiotherapy in gienecology or obstetrics. Students must independently master the material available in the e-studies in order to successfully prepare for the test work of each lesson - in the estudy environment or in person. At the end of the course, each student must individually draw up a rehabilitation plan, according to the clinical situation. Students to fill in questionnaires for study courses.

The final test of the course will use a combined assessment, taking into account tests for lectures (40%), presentation (40%) and rehabilitation plan (20%).
