About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in medication and chemotherapy in oncology, in accordance with the requirements of the regulations of the urology specialty, in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the urology specialty, in accordance with the regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

1.• Cancer epidemiology, trends in global and Latvian • Tumor etiology • Cancer screening diagnostics • Tumor therapy basic principles (neoadjuvant, adjuvant) treatment and practical application of ways and results • Patients dispanserizācija and accounting principles Latvian • Navigate first aid, if necessary, oncology • Palliative treatment options in oncology and distribution • Onkoslimnieka documentation • Medical ethical principles in oncology.

Skills

1.• appreciate high-risk population groups in oncology, • assess the specific risks of individual tumor localization case • plan necessary investigations of different malignancy • screening, diagnosis and stage of determination • interpretation of clinical findings, radiological and endoscopic examinations results • make tissue material sourcing cytological and histological examination, prepare the supporting documentation and to evaluate the morphological results of examinations • make the pleural cavity and ascites puncture • perform digital rectal investigation and evaluate the results • organize oncological patients the necessary assistance acute situations • mean adequate pain relief and palliative therapy tumors • adequately investigate patients with possible onkopatoloģiju organize patient control process after radical treatment (dispanserizāciju) timely diagnosis of relapse • work with oncology patients and medical staff of the Authority, subject to the principles of medical ethics manipulation.

Competences

1.The principles of multidisciplinary teamwork in oncology must be learned, emphasizing the importance of the urologist in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases: • In-depth acquisition of knowledge and necessary skills in the field of malignant tumor epidemiology, diagnosis and determination of distribution • Gain experience in choosing radical and palliative treatment tactics in case of different tumor localizations • Basics, principles and implementation of medical treatment of malignant tumors (chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, immunotherapy) in the case of more common tumor localizations • Get an idea of the role of radiotherapy in the radical and palliative therapy of various tumors • Principles of selection of neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapy and implementation of therapy in case of tumors of different locations. • Oncology patient documentation procedure • Principles of organizing palliative care for oncological patients • Gain experience in working with oncological patients according to the basic principles of medical ethics.

• Examination of primary oncological patients, clarification of disease stage and preparation of documentation for 10 patients • Acquisition of cell material for cytological examination, preparation of accompanying documentation for 3 patients • Acquisition of tissue material for histological examination, preparation of accompanying documentation for 2 patients • Digital rectal examination for 5 patients • Selection of standard chemotherapy regimens, dose calculation for breast and colorectal cancer patients in case of adjuvant and palliative therapy for 8 patients • Participation in the selection and planning of radiation therapy for breast, lung, rectal and prostate cancer patients for 6 patients.
