About Study Course

Objective

Develop knowledge, skills and competence in mathematical processing of research data to use statistical data processing methods in psychological research.

Students complete 6 practical works during the course. Each practical work is assessed on a 10-point scale. The total assessment of the practical works is formed by the average assessment of all six works, which constitutes 50% of the final assessment of the study course.

  2. Preparation and coding of data for statistical analysis – 10 points
  3. Descriptive statistics and data visualization in JASP – 10 points
  4. Application of parametric statistical methods in JASP – 10 points
  5. Application of non-parametric statistical methods in JASP – 10 points
  6. Psychometric analysis of surveys – 10 points

The average assessment of the six practical works on a 10-point scale constitutes 50% of the final assessment of the study course.

The final test assesses students' knowledge of the basic concepts of mathematical statistics, data types and measurement scales, descriptive statistics, population and sample, statistical hypothesis testing, and the ability to interpret the results of statistical analysis in the context of psychological research.

The test consists of 20 questions divided into 5 thematic blocks. Each thematic block contains 4 questions. For each correctly answered question, the student receives 0.5 points. The maximum possible score is 10 points.

  1. Basic concepts of mathematical statistics and their relevance in psychological research - 4 questions.
  2. Data types, measurement scales, and data preparation principles - 4 questions.
  3. Descriptive statistics, empirical distributions, and graphical data representation - 4 questions.
  4. Population, sample, representativeness, and sampling principles - 4 questions.
  5. Statistical hypotheses, p-value, statistical significance, and interpretation of results - 4 questions.

Maximum score - 10 points.
