Objective

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.The students will learn extended differential diagnosis of life-threatening conditions, their specific nature and compensatory mechanisms in the child’s body, and critical interventions to prevent them. In addition, the understanding of the use of a structured approach and the principles of crisis resource management will be gradually and purposefully developed.
Skills
1.Structured assessment of a critically ill child; Airway management: plan A, B and C; Positive pressure ventilation with mechanical devices; Provision of inotropic support; Blood gas interpretation; Leadership/ Teamwork/ Communication in crisis.
Competences
1.The medical students will be able to do both: take leadership by using theory and management principles and be part of a productive team by using practical skills and effective communication. The competence acquired will be universally applicable, far beyond the simulated situations during the course.
