About Study Course
Objective
The aim of the course is to develop advanced knowledge and competencies in endodontic microsurgery, restoration of endodontically treated teeth, and the management of complex clinical situations by integrating contemporary scientific evidence, digital technologies, and principles of personalized treatment to support evidence-based clinical decision-making and long-term preservation of the natural dentition.

Knowledge
1.1. Acquires knowledge of the biological and clinical principles of endodontic microsurgery, including indications, contraindications, treatment planning, surgical techniques, the application of bioactive materials, and the prevention, diagnosis, and management of complications. 2. Acquires knowledge of the biomechanical principles of restoring endodontically treated teeth, the significance of the ferrule effect, restorative treatment planning strategies, the application of bioactive materials, and factors influencing long-term treatment outcomes. 3. Acquires knowledge of the diagnosis and management of rare anatomical and developmental variations, the application of biomarkers, artificial intelligence, laser technologies, genomics, proteomics, and other omics sciences, as well as emerging scientific and technological advances in contemporary endodontics.

1.1. Is able to evaluate complex clinical and radiographic findings, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and select the most appropriate conservative, surgical, or multidisciplinary treatment strategy. 2. Is able to plan and perform the management of complex endodontic and endodontic microsurgical cases, evaluate restorative options for endodontically treated teeth, and integrate contemporary technologies into clinical decision-making. 3. Is able to analyse complex surgical and multidisciplinary clinical cases, critically appraise scientific literature, predict treatment outcomes, and integrate contemporary scientific evidence into clinical practice.

Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge of the indications, contraindications and treatment planning principles of endodontic microsurgery based on clinical findings, radiographic assessment and evaluation of the patient's general health. The seminar examines the criteria for selecting between nonsurgical endodontic retreatment, endodontic microsurgery and tooth extraction, while considering tooth restorability, periodontal status, anatomical risk factors and long-term prognosis. The role of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in surgical treatment planning, assessment of anatomical structures and reduction of surgical risks is discussed. The resident develops the ability to formulate evidence-based treatment plans, select the most appropriate surgical approach, and communicate treatment options, risks, prognosis and alternative management strategies to patients. |

Particular emphasis is placed on contemporary endodontic microsurgical principles using piezoelectric ultrasonic technology, the operating microscope and microsurgical instrumentation. The resident develops practical skills in performing osteotomy, root-end resection, retrograde cavity preparation and root-end filling using piezoelectric ultrasonic devices and modern microsurgical techniques, while selecting appropriate biomaterials according to the clinical situation to achieve minimally invasive treatment and predictable long-term outcomes. |

Analysis of Complex Surgical and Multidisciplinary Clinical Cases
Description
The resident acquires advanced knowledge in the comprehensive assessment and multidisciplinary management of complex surgical endodontic cases. The seminar is based on the critical analysis of challenging clinical cases requiring collaboration with specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery, periodontology, prosthodontics, orthodontics, radiology and other relevant disciplines. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based treatment planning, clinical decision-making, risk assessment, management of complications, evaluation of alternative treatment options, and long-term prognosis. Clinical cases are discussed using a multidisciplinary approach to optimize patient outcomes and preserve the natural dentition whenever possible. |
