About Study Course

Objective

To provide theoretical knowledge about the tactical aspects of crime scene inspection and to strengthen practical skills in conducting crime scene inspection. To provide theoretical knowledge and strengthen practical skills in obtaining preliminary information, identifying and providing the necessary resources for inspection of the scene and documenting the inspection of the scene.

Preliminary Knowledge

Prior knowledge in Criminal Procedure, Forensic Techniques is required.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Student will be able to demonstrate basic and specialised knowledge acquired in the study course, some of which corresponds to the level of the highest achievements of the relevant scientific sector.

2.The student will have acquired knowledge of the acquisition of initial information and the materials and technical equipment required to view the scene, will be familiar with the methods of viewing the scene and documenting the inspection of the scene.

3.Student will be able to demonstrate theoretical knowledge in recording and removing various types of material evidence at the scene.

4.Student will have theoretical knowledge of the specificities of viewing the scene of individual offences.

Skills

1.Students will be able to continuously structure their learning, analyse their level of knowledge and rationally supplement it, select and evaluate the sources of literature and will be able to develop scientific and research skills.

2.The student will be able to apply a scientific approach and practical skills by performing the necessary preparatory work for the commencement of the inspection of the scene, obtaining initial information regarding the event, identifying and applying the necessary material-technical base, for the capture, removal of the scene and the traces and objects therein and documenting the inspection of the scene.

Competences

1.Using the acquired theoretical knowledge and skills, the student will be able to independently obtain the initial information regarding the event, analyse it and independently take a reasoned decision regarding the material-technical provision necessary for the performance of the inspection of a particular place of the event.

2.Using the acquired theoretical knowledge and skills, the student will be able to continuously evaluate and decide on the choice of the most appropriate location.

3.By applying the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the student will be able to independently perform the fixation of the scene and the objects therein using different fixation techniques.

4.Using the acquired theoretical knowledge and skills, the student will be able to independently perform an inspection of the scene, taking into account the specificities of the inspection of the scene of individual criminal offences.

5.By applying theoretical knowledge and skills, the student will be able to remove different types of tracks and objects, as well as perform documentation of the inspection of the scene.
