To participate in a multidisciplinary team as an assistant to a paediatric gastroenterologist, directly caring for children with inflammatory bowel diseases. To participate in the provision of outpatient consultations in the paediatric clinic for children with digestive tract problems within the scope of their competence. To independently interpret the endoscopy reports on children, the results of radiological and visual diagnosis when working with gastroenterology patients. To prepare clinical cases for clinic discussions using current European guidelines in paediatric gastroenterology.

Must attend at least 90% of seminars. Analysis of the described and presented clinical cases together with the head of the study programme and other doctors entitled to teach paediatric gastroenterology.

Pseudomembranous colitis - etiology, pathophysiology, presentation, diagnosis, treatment.

Irritable bowel syndrome - diferencial diagnosis, diagnostical possibilities.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, unclassified colitis) - pathophysiology, diagnostics, specificity in childhood, long term follow up.

Cystic fibrosis – genetics, pathogenesis, characteristics of damage to various organ systems in cystic fibrosis, diagnosis, problems, treatment and care management.

Acute pancreatitis – aetiology, pathogenesis, clinic, diagnosis, problems, prognosis, treatment, including intensive care, parenteral and enteral nutrition.

Chronic pancreatitis – problems in diagnosis, specifics in paediatric aetiology and clinic. The doctor’s tactics in managing the treatment of these patients.

Reye’s syndrome and other toxic liver damage. Acute liver failure – causes, diagnosis, therapy.

Diseases related to carbohydrate metabolism: glycogenosis, galactosemia, fructosemia, pentosemia – diagnostic possibilities, diet therapy.

Disaccharide cleavage – physiology and pathology, clinic. Lactose intolerance – diagnosis, treatment tactics.

Importance of immunodiagnostics in paediatric gastroenterology practice.
