About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in gynaecology in accordance with the requirements of the specialty of a physician-andrologist in order to prepare the doctor for certification in the additional specialty of andrologist.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Has good knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive organs, oogenesis, physiology of the menstrual cycle. Has good knowledge of the hormonal regulation of the female reproductive organs, the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis. Describes menstrual cycle disorders – amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhea, PCOS. Explains congenital vaginal anomalies, non-infectious and infectious pathologies of the vagina, neoplasms. Evaluates cervical and uterine pathologies. Explains pelvic inflammatory diseases and endometriosis, effect thereof on fertility function. Identifies and classifies infertility, its causes, pathogenesis, diagnosis and differential diagnosis. Names the medicinal and non-medicinal treatment methods for the various causes of infertility. Evaluates female contraception: different types thereof (hormonal, intrauterine, etc.), impact thereof on women’s reproductive function.

Skills

1.To perform smear test. To perform intrauterine insemination procedures. To perform oocyte punctures in medical insemination procedures. To perform embryo transfer procedures in medical insemination procedures.

Competences

1.Evaluates hormonal regulation tests of the female reproductive organs (gonadotropic hormones, oestrogen, progestins, androgens, etc.). Diagnoses menstrual cycle disorders, causes thereof. Diagnoses PCOS, evaluates indications for medical or surgical treatment. Diagnoses and treats infectious vaginal diseases. Diagnoses and treats pelvic inflammatory diseases. Diagnoses or evaluates indications for surgical diagnosis of endometriosis. Draws up an examination plan for female infertility. Selects the appropriate infertility treatment based on the cause. Performs a post-coital test.
