About Study Course

Objective

To obtain deep knowledge of the structure and functions of the human body, learn the impact of sports training on the development, growth, unity of form and function of the human body. Students learn the basics of Latin medical terminology used in anatomy, physiology and other medical disciplines, as well as learn the skills of morphological research. To provide the knowledge base necessary for the mastering of other medical biological cycle study courses.

Preliminary Knowledge

Secondary or secondary special education, including life science profile subjects: biology, anatomy, physics, inorganic and organic chemistry.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Will know: 1. Skeleton: structure of bones, joints of torso and limbs. 2. Structure, attachment sites, functions of skeletal muscles. 3. Structure, functions of the cardiovascular system circuits. 4. Structure and role of each part of the central nervous system in motion regulation. 5. Structural changes in the body that develop under the influence of regular sports training.

Skills

1.To show muscles, bones, parts of the brain, etc. on models, anatomical preparations and posters.

Competences

1.To analyse muscle function in different movements – which muscles work in which joints in different sport movements.

Assessment

Individual work

-
-
To prepare for test works in anatomy on topics: 1) osteosyndesmology of torso, 2) osteosyndesmology of upper limb, 3) osteosyndesmology of lower limb, 4) myology of torso, 5) myology of upper limb, 6) myology of lower limb, 7) cardiovascular system, 8) nervous system. To prepare for the final examination – oral examination in anatomy.

Examination

Examination

-
-
Knowledge and competences of students in anatomy are assessed in 8 test works in a 10-point grading system and in the examination in a 10-point grading system. Students must pass 8 test works (Osteosyndesmology of torso. Osteosyndesmology of upper limb. Osteosyndesmology of lower limb. Myology of torso. Myology of upper limb. Myology of lower limb. Cardiovascular system. Nervous system). Skills: During classes is able to show muscles, bones, parts of the brain, etc. on models, anatomical preparations and posters on the topics learned during previous classes. Competence: Students must pass test works on the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system by analysing muscle function in different movements in certain joints (osteology; syndesmology; myology; sports myology). Summative assessment of knowledge and competences in test works is used in the study course. All written test works must be passed. The student is given the opportunity to improve the previously obtained assessment once, even if it he/she passed. Failing grades (below 4) must be improved. Anatomy examination assessment criteria: The knowledge, skills and competences of students are examined during an examination (formative assessment). In the examination, each student answers three questions from a paper (movement analysis, osteosyndesmology and myology), which the student picks from covered sheets when entering the examination room. The student is given time to prepare to respond. The examination response takes place orally, demonstrating the anatomical formations on visual aids (bones, models, posters).
