About Study Course
Objective
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.- theoretic knowledge about anatomy, pathophysiology of the lungs, pleura, bronchial system, oesophagus and thoracic wall, - theoretical knowledge on aetiology, pathogenesis, symptoms, diagnostics of acute thoracic surgical diseases, indications for conservative and surgical treatment, - diagnostic methods, instruments used in thoracic surgery, - surgeon’s tactics in acute cases, - emergency medical assistance when needed, indications for surgical treatment, - peculiarities of management of the postoperative period.
Skills
1.- To evaluate general condition of a patient in a proper way, - To examine a patient with a thoracic pathology in a proper way, - Should be able to perform a puncture of the pleural cavity, - Should be able to perform drainage of the pleural cavity.
Competences
1.- to deliver skilful first and emergency medical assistance to patients with thoracic pathology.

A. Testing of knowledge in theoretical matters. Multiple-choice questions in a written test – 50 questions (150 questions are prepared.). Assessment using a 10-point grade system.
B. Assessment of performance of different manipulations on a manikin. Assessment using a 10-point grade system.
