About Study Course
Objective
The aim of the research is to develop doctoral students’ skills in publishing and presenting the results of their research work both locally and internationally by participating in conferences, preparing publications, by independently developing a doctoral thesis in co-operation with the doctoral thesis supervisor, as well as by preparing for academic work in a higher education institution.

Knowledge
1.Doctoral students are able to demonstrate that they are familiar with and understand the most topical scientific theories and conclusions; have mastered research methodology and modern research methods in the field of law or professional and interdisciplinary areas; that they know how to prepare the content of the study course and its organisational way; develop their knowledge of evaluating the problems, analysing the causes and finding solutions while developing their doctoral theses.
Skills
1.Doctoral students are able to develop arguments, draw and justify conclusions and maintain reasoned discussion, communicate and cooperate locally and internationally on current research issues in the field of law; to choose appropriate teaching methods and techniques in working with students; to create study materials according to the needs of students and within the context of studies. The doctoral student has contributed to extension of the boundaries of knowledge or has developed profound understanding of the existing knowledge and its use in practice. The doctoral student is able to communicate orally and in writing about their field of research (their branch) with the wider scientific community and society as a whole, as well as independently improve their scientific qualifications, carry out scientific projects achieving success corresponding to international criteria within the scientific sector.
Competences
1.Doctoral students are able to solve significant research or innovation tasks while performing independent, critical analysis, synthesis and assessment; to independently put forward the research idea, to plan, structure and manage large-scale scientific projects, including those within international context. Doctoral students are able to carry out modern, original research in law; to implement out pedagogical activities in an institution of higher education.

The scientific research includes the original scientific research conducted independently by the doctoral student, participation in conferences, preparation and publishing of publications and teaching activities undertaken in a higher education institution. Upon completion of the course, the doctoral student must meet the following requirements: maintain constant contact with and work under the guidance of the doctoral thesis supervisor; agree on the topic of the doctoral thesis with the supervisor of the doctoral thesis; extend knowledge of research methods in the field of law; identify scientific literature necessary for the doctoral thesis; form the empirical basis necessary for the thesis; submit the work plan to the supervisor of the doctoral thesis; regularly inform the supervisor about the progress of the research work, discussing the achievements and scientific problems arisen; regularly show the parts of the doctoral thesis written to the supervisor; agree on the texts of scientific publications with the supervisor; participate in scientific conferences; do teaching work in a higher education institution; inform the supervisor of the doctoral thesis and RSU Department of Doctoral Studies about the work carried out.
The student's contribution to the improvement of the study process is the provision of meaningful feedback on the study course by filling out its evaluation questionnaire.

At the end of each academic year, the Head of the doctoral study programme shall examine the doctoral student’s report on the accomplishments during the academic year and the report on the research activity and shall advocate the doctoral student for evaluating their scientific research outcomes at the meeting of the Committee for evaluation of research activity. The part of the programme of the relevant academic year shall be considered to have been completed if the requirements of the doctoral study programme have been met and a positive assessment of the Committee for evaluation of research activity has been received.
