About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition and improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in invasive radiology according to the requirements of the thoracic surgery speciality regulations to prepare doctors for certification in the speciality of thoracic surgery according to regulatory documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Able to demonstrate advanced or extended knowledge and understanding of the technology of radiological examination of patients with pulmonary pathology; invasive diagnostic tactics.

1.Able to independently apply theory, methods and problem-solving skills to perform highly qualified professional functions. Able to justify, explain and discuss complicated or systemic aspects of the respective scientific or professional area. Able to independently drive the improvement of one’s competences and specialisation;

A resident can get a passing grade if they can: Choose the right radiological regimen for the patient; Independently interpret X-ray images in case of lung cancer; Invasive intravascular diagnostic and treatment methods: indications and methodology. At the end of the cycle, the resident’s practical work skills and theoretical knowledge are assessed in writing with a grade on a 10-point scale.
