Knowledge
1.On successful completion of the course, students will be able to: • recognize professional terminology in different types of texts; • recall professional terminology related to the field of dental hygiene; • describe different phenomena in the field of dental hygiene using professional terminology in English.
Skills
1.On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to: • select and use appropriate terminology in English to speak and write (summaries, e-mails, memos) on the topics related to the field of oral hygiene; • use appropriate language devices to communicate their ideas both in written and spoken language; • summarize the information from any kind of source in written and spoken language using relevant terminology in English; • retell the general idea and specific information in different kinds of texts from varied types of sources.
Competences
1.On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply practically the acquired terminology in studies.

Individual and pair work – preparing presentations on one of the course topics, work with monolingual dictionaries – explaining terms; writing summaries, and e-mails according to the given principles. Students are obliged to fill in the course evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.

• Active participation in classes; written homework – qualitative, submitted in due time, the quality of oral answers; • Presentations on the topics of the course; • Tests – checking terminology acquisition and its practical application; • At the end of the course – Written Exam– checking knowledge and practical application of terminology, general comprehension and understanding of specific information, and the language use.
