Knowledge
1.After completing the course students will be able to: • explain the changes in public attitudes to disability from antiquity to the present day; • explain the development of concept of disability using medical and social model; • name types of disability, and characterize the most common barriers caused by disability.
Skills
1.After completing the course students will be able to: • discuss the problems of integration of people with disability in Latvia; • plan necessary support measures to prevent disability and/or diminish its effect on participation for particular person with functional limitations; • briefly describe the main disability mitigation policies in Latvia.
Competences
1.Students will be able to argue a personal understanding and attitude towards people with limited functional capabilities in order to establish positive therapeutic relations in occupational therapy practice.

In order to receive a positive evaluation, the student must do assigned tasks. At the end of the course a student must pass a written test (100%).
At the end of the course, students are invited to complete a study course evaluation questionnaire.
