About Study Course

Objective

To expand the knowledge of Master students of the basic principles of the various psychotherapy directions and the possibilities they offer in psychosocial support. To find out the common and different characteristics. To improve students’ knowledge and practical skills in the implementation of therapeutic interventions. To build understanding of the different characteristics of counselling and therapy by actualising their use in psychosocial support in social work. To promote the actualisation of ethical fundamental principles in psychosocial support. To complement students’ active listening skills.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students have an understanding of basic principles and different characteristics of various psychotherapy directions and their possibilities in psychosocial support. Master students are able to define the most important concepts and terms of psychodynamic, analytical, cognitive behavioural and existential humanistic directions of psychotherapy, and to name and describe mechanisms for protecting the human psyche.

Skills

1.Students are able to choose an appropriate approach to work in psychosocial support in social work and to implement it in practice.

Competences

1.Students are competent in the use of different psychotherapy directions and principles in psychosocial support in social work.
