About Study Course

Objective

The aim of the study course is to learn to know the classification of narcotic and psychotropic substances, mechanisms of action, effects on the CNS, clinical manifestations, identification and diagnostic methods, the clinic and treatment of intoxication psychoses and psychoses, the manifestations and treatment of withdrawal states, the principles of long-term pharmacotherapy.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.After completing the course, you will be able to describe the pharmacology of narcotic, psychotropic and toxic substances; classify psychoactive substances according to their effects on the CNS; to recognize and differentiate the clinical picture of intoxication states caused by substances; describe mental disorders; to know diagnostics, differential diagnostics; list therapy methods; to know the drugs used in therapy, their pharmacokinetics, side effects.

Skills

1.Be able to determine and differentiate the clinic of states of intoxication of the used narcotic, psychotropic substances; identify and describe the clinical finding corresponding to a specific substance; describe mental disorders; find and apply appropriate psychopharmacotherapy in the treatment of psychotic disorders; find an individual treatment approach for each patient, collect complete anamnesis data for each narcotic or psychotropic substance used by the patient; list and know the medications used in treatment, their pharmacokinetics, side effects.

Competences

1.Use of acquired knowledge in practice, ensuring continuity of treatment; involve a multiprofessional team in the treatment and care of patients; justify the chosen treatment approach.
